Compromising Food Stamp Claims
Vermont Proposed Rule: 06P026
AGENCY: Dept. for Children and Families (DCF)
CONCISE SUMMARY: This rule establishes that the department will compromise Food Stamp claims under certain circumstances as put forth in Vermont's Food Stamp Claim Plan, approved by the Food and Nutrition Service. The methodology for calculating the amount to be compromised is described in the department's Food Stamp Procedures Manual.
TYPE OF PERSONS AFFECTED: Recipients and former recipients of food stamps and their advocates and attorneys, the Food and Nutrition Service, and the department.
COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: For Food Stamp recipients having an agency or inadvertent household error claim, this rule will make it easier for them to repay a reasonable portion of the claim in a shorter period of time. Also, the rule will help the department better manage its outstanding Food Stamp claims.
SCHEDULED HEARINGS: October 2, 2006, at 9:00 a.m., in the Blue Room, in the Planning, Policy, and Regulation Unit, DCF, State Office Complex, Waterbury, Vermont.
