Cable Television, Rule 8.213 and 8.313

Vermont Proposed Rule: 09P025

AGENCY: Public Service Board

CONCISE SUMMARY: The amendment will make several changes to the Board's line extension rules for cable television operators. It will remove the need to do annual house counts in unserved areas, change the basis for computing customer contributions for line extensions, and extend the effect of the rule to telephone companies.

TYPE OF PERSONS AFFECTED: Cable Operators, telephone companies.

COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The present requirement to perform annual house counts is very expensive and produces few new subscribers. The change will save many thousands of dollars with little change on potential subscribers.
