Health Insurance Claims Administration Rule

Vermont Proposed Rule: 09P054

AGENCY: Dept. of Banking, Insurance, Securities & Health Care Administration

CONCISE SUMMARY: This rule will establish a process for the creation of Uniform standards for Web based prior authorization and Mid Level Provider Billing.

TYPE OF PERSONS AFFECTED: Health insurers, health care facilities and providers, and all individuals who receive care in the health care system. The State of Vermont will be affected for all State run or funded health plans.

COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The economic impact of this rule is minimal. As standards are developed and implemented initial compliance with the standards may have associated costs. Initially there will be some start up expenses, which have been taken into consideration when drafting this Rule. The estimated savings for web based prior approvals is $.75 per approval.

SCHEDULED HEARINGS: January 25, 2010, 9:00 am in the Dept. of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration 3rd Floor Conference Room at 89 Main St. Montpelier.
